Patriots Win 6-1 to Complete Sweep of Raiders

College of Central Florida pitcher James Hill didn't find out he was starting until about two hours before the game. That didn't seem to phase Hill as he tossed six shutout innings of three hit baseball while striking out six batters in the Patriots 6-1 win over the Seminole State College Raiders. The win completed the three-game sweep for the Pats and improved their record to 26-13, 12-2 in the Mid-Florida Conference. Seminole fell to 18-15, 8-6.

Kevin Kilpatrick led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk and was promptly driven home on a Caleb Cali triple to give the Pats an early 1-0 lead. Three run scoring singles in the bottom of the third inning by Victor Castillo, Edrick Felix and Jared Evans pushed the score to 4-0. Kilpatrick took the first pitch of the bottom of the fourth inning over the left field wall to make it a 5-0 game. The Raiders were able to get on the board in the top of the eighth when Kishon Frett hit a ball into the net off the scoreboard for a double that scored Christian Webb to get the Raiders within four runs. The Patriots would add an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when Castillo singled home Kilpatrick. Parker Seay earned his second save of the season for the Patriots when he entered the game to stop a Raider rally in the eighth inning and pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

The College of Central Florida is currently ranked 5th in the NJCAA Region 8 Coaches' Poll. The Pats will host the Santa Fe Saints this Saturday, April 2nd , 1:00 PM at Goodlett Field to begin the second half of Mid-Florida Conference play.
