Patriots Extend Winning Streak to 8 Games

The College of Central Florida Patriots (21-12, 7-1) winning streak currently sits at eight straight after their 15-0 win over Lake Sumter State College (11-18, 2-7) on Saturday afternoon in Leesburg. Landon Ginn (3-1) threw five innings of shutout baseball allowing only four hits, no runs and striking out five Lake Hawk batters. The Pats are on an impressive winning streak, but what is even more impressive is how they are dominating opponents and reaching historic numbers. Central Florida has won their last seven Mid-Florida Conference games all by the run rule. Just this week the Patriots finished 4-0 and outscored their opponents by a 53-5 margin. Head Coach Marty Smith thanked the team after the game for giving him the best Spring Break he has ever had.

Victor Castillo led off the top of the second inning with his sixth home run of the season to give the Pats a 1-0 lead and opened the floodgates for the Patriots offense. Caleb Cali hit his first of two home runs on the day in the third inning to up the Pat's lead to 3-0. Nicholas Calero hit his third home run of the season followed by Cali's second of the game and fifth home run of the season to give CF a 6-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Patriots put the game away in the sixth inning by scoring nine runs. Run scoring singles by Cali and Castillo and RBI doubles from Edrick Felix and David Pereira accounted for five of the runs.

Kevin Kilpatrick 2-3, 3R

Caleb Cali 4-4, 3R, 5RBI, HR(2)

Edrick Felix 2-4, 3RBI, 2B

Victor Castillo 3-4, 2R, 2RBI, HR
