Kilpatrick’s Five Hit Day Leads Pats over Manatees 16-10

The College of Central Florida Patriots (10-8) were coming off two one run losses when they rode Kevin Kilpatrick's hot bat to a 16-10 win over the State College of Florida Manatees (7-10). Kilpatrick had a five for five day with a double and two RBI. Kilpatrick wasn't the only Pat with multiple hits as Caleb Cali, Carson Bayne, and Victor Castillo had two hits apiece. One of Castillo's hits was his third home run of the season.

The Patriots found themselves down 7-1 in the fourth inning when the comeback began. Kilpatrick singled home Nicholas Calero to get one back and then in the fifth inning a couple Manatee errors made the score 7-5. A Harrison Long double knocked in two runs for the State College of Florida to push the lead to 9-5. That didn't deter the comeback though as CF rallied in the sixth inning to take the lead 10-9. Cali singled home Kilpatrick and an error allowed Landon Ginn to score. After a Bayne sacrifice fly scored another run, Castillo followed with his towering HR to right field to give the Pats the lead. The Patriots weren't done in the seventh as Bayne's bases loaded doubled scored three more to make it 13-9. The Manatees got one back on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth. The Pats scored three times in the bottom of the eighth to make the final score 16-10.

Riley Huge picked up the win in relief to up his record to 1-1. Parker Seay went 2.0 innings allowing only one run, one hit and striking out four for his first save of the season.

The Patriots are back in action on Wednesday at Goodlett Field when they host St. Petersburg College. Game time is 2:30 PM.
