
The College of Central Florida Patriots defeated the Daytona State College Falcons 13-3 in six innings Friday afternoon to complete the three game sweep. The Patriots, who are ranked #8 in the NJCAA National rankings won their eighth game in a row and improved to 21-5 on the season and 3-0 in Mid-Florida Conference play. Daytona State fell to 10-6, 0-3.
CF starting pitcher Kyle LaCalameto (University of Houston commit) tossed five innings allowing only 2 runs while striking out 11 batters. LaCalameto who improved his record to 3-0 said; “I established my fastball inside early, which gave me confidence to throw any pitch.”
The Pats offense had 15 hits on the day which included home runs from Jackson Taylor (2nd) and Matt Cedarburg (5th). The game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning when Cedarburg connected on his three run home run. Cedarburg finished the day with four RBIs. Jeslyn Whitehead stayed hot by collecting two hits and three RBI. Spencer Stephens also added three RBI. Taylor finished the day 3 for 3 with two RBI. On his home run Taylor said; “I kind of got lucky because the pitcher hung a change up.”
The Pats return to Goodlett Field on Monday to play Pasco-Hernando State College.
