What a difference a day makes. On Friday in Ocala the College of Central Florida Patriots one-hit the Florida State College - Jacksonville Blue Wave, 14-0. Saturday was a different story as the Blue Wave turned the tide by beating the Pats 7-2 at their home field in Jacksonville.
FSCJ's, Daniel Gaviria tossed a complete game limiting the CF offense to only two runs. Gaviria struck out three and improved his record to 2-2 on the season.
It was scoreless in the fourth inning when the Blue Wave broke it open by scoring four runs. Two runs scored on a Chris Hall double and two more came across when Luka Torralva singled. With the Pats' bats silent the Blue Wave tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Sam Rudd and a two run single by Evan Wilkeri.
The Pats would finally get on the board in the seventh inning when Matt Cedarburg's triple scored Nick Calero. Miguel Useche then singled home Cedarburg.
The Blue Wave tallied 14 hits on the day and improved to 5-16 on the season. The Patriots dropped to 28-7.
"Their pitcher threw well and we didn't make adjustments. We have to be better on Monday." Said CF Assistant Coach, Collin McBride.
The same two teams will meet again on Monday 3:00 p.m. at FSCJ to complete the three game series.
