The College of Central Florida Patriots rallied from an early three run deficit to defeat the Lake Sumter State College Lake Hawks, 6-4. The win ran the Pats' winning streak to 12 games and pushed their record to 25-5 and 4-0 in conference play.
Kyle LaCalameto (4-0) started and went 5.2 innings giving up six hits, four runs and striking out seven. Nick Love threw two shutout innings in relief and Evan Michelson earned his second save of the year striking out two in his 1.1 innings of work. CF pitching coach Zac Cole said "Michelson was electric today coming in for the save. His best performance of the year."
The Lake Hawks jumped out to a 4-1 lead when Ian Thornton singled home Naphis Llanos and Alber Mogollon.
The Pats rally from the three run deficit started when Kevin Kilpatrick scored on a wild pitch and Garrett Wallace singled home Tre Hondras to cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the third inning. In the fourth inning Matt Cedarburg scored on a wild pitch to tie the game, Hondras' double scored Miguel Useche to give the Pats the lead for good. CF added an insurance run in the eighth inning when Hondras singled again to score Kyler Hultgren to increase the lead to 6-4.
The same two teams play again on Saturday at Lake Sumter, 1:00 PM.
