NIX NAMED FCSAA BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball player James Nix has been named the FCSAA Baseball Player of the Week for games played April 8-12. This is the second player of the week honor for Nix this season.

The freshman outfielder from Huntsville, Ala. batted .750 on the week with 14 runs scored, seven RBI, six stolen bases and three homers as he helped lead FCSAA No. 1/ NJCAA No. 2 Patriots to a 4-0 record on the week, including two Mid-Florida Conference wins. He hit safely in all four games, including three multi-hit games and scoring at least twice in each game.

Nix kicked off the week going 3-for-3 with two homers and four RBI against University of Tampa JV. Against conference rival Seminole State College, Nix went 1-for-2 with six runs scored, five stolen bases and a home run.

Nix currently leads the state, third in the nation, in batting average (.487) and ranks third in the state in total home runs with eight. He currently has 23 stolen bases on the year and has scored 80 runs in 47 games for the Patriots.

Nix and the Patriots will play its final home game of 2019 on Saturday when it hosts Daytona State College at 1 p.m. for Sophomore Day. There will be a small ceremony prior to first pitch to honor the Patriots' eight sophomores.
