#CFBASEBALL TAKES 2 OF 3 FROM BLUE WAVE

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team took the rubber match of the three-game series against Florida State College at Jacksonville, run-ruling the Blue Wave 14-1 in seven innings.

CF (25-3, 4-2 MFC), who is ranked No. 1 in the state and nation, got out to an early 4-0 lead after 2.5 innings before FSCJ responded with a run of its own.

But in the end the Patriot offense appeared too much for the Blue Wave pitching staff.

CF went on to plate 10 runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, including a seven-run seventh inning to enforce the run-rule. The Patriots tore through nine FSCJ pitchers in the win.

Sophomore first baseman Nolan Machibroda went yard two times on the day, finishing 2-for-5 with five RBI, while freshman Oliver Regalado went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Freshman outfielder James Nix continued his dominance at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored. Nix leads the state in batting average (.474) and is tied for first in home runs (6).

Freshman lefty Alfredo Carballo kept the Blue Wave offense at bay, not allowing an earned run on two hits and struck out four in five innings of work to improve to 2-0 on the season.

CF will be back in action on Wednesday when it welcomes conference rival Santa Fe College for the first game of its three-game series. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
