#CFBASEBALL SURGES TO NO. 1 RANKING

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team surged to the top of the FCSAA baseball rankings, released this week by the Florida College System Activities Association.

The Patriots jumped two spots in the rankings after finishing 5-0 on the week, including a 7-6 win over then No. 1 Florida SouthWestern State College. FSW, Seminole State College, Northwest Florida State College, and Santa Fe College round out the Top 5.

CF has gotten off to one of the hottest starts in all of junior college baseball, currently riding a 19-game win streak. 

The CF offense currently leads the state in almost every offensive category, including: home runs (21), RBI (148), batting average (.332), on-base percentage (.438), and slugging percentage (.524). The Patriots also lead the NJCAA in RBI and rank No. 2 in total home runs. 

The Patriot pitching staff continues its dominance, ranking Top 3 in the state in lowest earned run average (2.77) and No. 1 in strikeouts per nine innings (10.73). The staff also ranks No. 2 in the state, Top 5 in the nation, in total strikeouts with 186 in 156 innings pitched. 

Individually, sophomore third baseman Ricky Presno leads in the state (No. 2 in NJCAA) in home runs with six, while NJCAA Player of the Week James Nix ranks third with four homers and leads the state in batting average (.465). Transfer first baseman Nolan Machibroda ranks 2nd in the state, No. 4 in the NJCAA, with 27 RBI on the year.

CF will kickoff Mid-Florida Conference play on Saturday when it hosts No. 3 Seminole at 1 p.m.
