OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team continues to roll, defeating Eastern Florida State College 8-5 on Saturday afternoon at Goodlett Field. This is the eighth straight win for the Patriots since dropping the season opener at Palm Beach State College.

Eastern Florida got on the board first with a RBI double and single to go ahead 2-0 in the first inning, but it is the only lead the Titans would hold for the remainder of the game.

The Patriots kicked off the eight-run game with a four-run second inning.

Bases loaded and none out, sophomore left fielder Zach West delivered a RBI single to center to put CF on the board. Freshman second baseman Matthew Cedarburg hit into a fielder's choice a batter later to even the score. A sacrifice fly by James Nix and a first and third steal added two more runs before the end of the inning.

CF added insurance runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings to move ahead 8-2 before Eastern Florida tried to rally in the ninth.

The Titans plated three runs in the top of the ninth off two fielding errors before EFSC's JD Stubbs grounded out pitcher Brendan Bell to end the game.

Freshman catcher Colton Vincent led the Patriots at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while sophomore first baseman Nolan Machibroda went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Eric Linder improved to 2-0, allowing just two runs on five hits and striking out five in 5.2 innings of work, before giving way to a trio of Patriot relievers: freshman LHP Alredo Caraballo, sophomore LHP Brenden Kudlinski and freshman RHP Brendan Bell. Kudlinski threw 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out all four batters he faced.

CF baseball will go on the road to face St. Petersburg College on Monday at 3 p.m. before hosting FCSAA No. 3 State College of Florida on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
