#CFBASEBALL LANDS 6 ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS

OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team landed six Mid-Florida All-Conference selections at the conference meeting this week in Ocala.

Christian Smallwood, Yorvis Torrealba and Ricky Presno received MFC First Team All-Conference honors, while Luis Medina, Tanner May and Blake Marabell were named to second team. Smallwood finished top three in conference player of the year voting. 

This group of honorees combine for 66 of the program and state best 86 home runs on the year, with five of the six (Smallwood (14), Torrealba (12), Medina (13), May (11) and Marabell (11)) hitting more than 10 homers this season. Smallwood currently leads the state in total home runs and ranks Top 15 in the nation. 

At the conclusion of the season, May and Marabell will transfer to the University of North Florida to continue their baseball careers. Medina and Torrealba will continue their careers at the University of Tampa and Smallwood is currently entertaining several offers. 

But first, it's playoff time!

The Mid-Florida Conference No. 2 Patriots will play a three-game game series against the winner of No. 3 St. John's River State College and No. 4 Lake-Sumter State College starting on Saturday. Playoff schedule is as follows:

  • Game 1: Saturday, April 28 at Central Florida, 1 p.m.
  • Game 2: Sunday, April 29 at St. Johns/Lake-Sumter, 1 p.m.
  • Game 3: Monday, April 30 at Central Florida, 3 p.m. (if necessary) 

Winner of the three-game series will advance to the state tournament as the Mid-Florida Conference No. 2 representative and will face the Southern Conference champion in the opening round on May 11 at 1 p.m. Click here for complete tournament schedule.
