#CFBASEBALL-SCF ENDS IN 5-5 TIE DUE TO DARKNESS

OCALA--The College of Central Florida-State College of Florida baseball game ended in a stale mate on Wednesday afternoon at Goodlett Field.

Wednesday's non-conference game was called due to darkness after nine complete innings with FCSAA No. 9 CF and No. 5 SCF tied at 5-5.

The Patriots got off to an early 3-0 lead after two innings off a double to deep center by FCSAA Player of the Week Luis Medina and a single to left by Christian Smallwood in the first. In the second inning, Ricky Presno grounded into a fielder's choice to drive in Zach West.

SCF's CJ Alexander drilled a two-run homer over the right field wall in the third inning to bring the Manatees to within one run.

CF add a run in the fifth and sixth innings, including a solo homer from Blake Marabell in the sixth, to put the Patriots ahead 5-2, but the Manatees countered with three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the ball game.

The Patriots had an opportunity to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. CF had a one-out, bases loaded situation, but SCF reliever John Pichman got Ricky Presno to strike out and Medina to line out to center to thwart CF's scoring attack.

On the mound, Mark Potter allowed five runs on nine hits and struck out six in 6 1/3 innings of work. Relievers Pablo Toranzo, Nick Geller and Ben Koff combined to throw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

CF will have the weekend off before heading to Clearwater on Monday to take on St. Petersburg College. The Patriots will now play a doubleheader against the Titans due to Monday's rainout in Ocala. First game is set for 2:30 p.m.
