OCALA--College of Central Florida baseball team downed Southeastern University JV on Monday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
The Patriots recorded a season-high 17 hits en rout to a 17-4 victory over SEU.
The Fire took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but CF battled back to plate five unanswered runs and take a 5-2 lead into the sixth. The Patriots would later explode for an eight-run seventh inning to solidify the win.
David Flores and Vincent Adonna each recorded a home run while driving in two runs and plating three in the win. Smallwood (3-for-5, 2 runs scored, RBI) and Steven Lugo (2-for-4, 2 runs scored, RBI) backed Flores and Adonna at the plate.
On the mound, Jackson Stoeckinger got his first start in more than a year after returning from Tommy John surgery. Stoeckinger allowed one unearned run on three hits and struck out two before giving way for Troy Brown. Brown struck out five in three innings of work to pick up his first win of the season.
CF opens up Mid-Florida Conference play on Wednesday when they Daytona State College for a 3 p.m. start. Nate Pearson will start on the mound for the Patriots.
