Brown's RBI single in 7th propels Patriots past Raiders

OCALA- Colby Brown's RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning lifted the College of Central Florida baseball team past Seminole State 6-5 in Mid-Florida Conference action in Sanford on Saturday afternoon.

Brown's hit helped CF (21-12, 6-3) to the win after it trailed 5-1 after two innings.

CF scored once in the fourth and three times in the fifth to tie up the Raiders.

Cooper Wallace (2-2) earned the win for the Patriots, after allowing four earned runs on nine hits in six innings. 

Luke Heyer, the fourth CF pitcher, went the final 2/3 innings and earned his fourth save of the season.

At the plate, Brown (3-for-5, three RBI, double) was backed by Heyer (3-for-5, two runs scored, double), Ryan Crile (1-for-4, run scored), Christian Khawam (1-for-3, two runs scored), Justin Ambrosino (2-for-5), Malik Tatis (1-for-4, run scored, double) and Nick Mira (1-for-4, RBI).

CF, winners of five straight games (four in the MFC), will host Seminole State on Monday afternoon at 3.

The Patriots battled back, after they jumped to a 1-0 in the top of the first.

The Raiders answered with two runs in the bottom half of the frame and three more in the second, but CF made the plays when it needed to in order to take the first game of the three-game series.
