The College of Central Florida Patriots lost 8-3 in Clermont on Sunday in the State Tournament. The loss ended the Patriot hopes of making it back to the NJCAA National Tournament and ended their 2023 season. The Lady Pats have much to be proud of in their Conference Championship season with an overall 46-13 record.

The Pensacola offense proved to be a little too much for the Pats as they used a two-run second and three-run third to take a 5-0 lead. Pensacola's State Player of the Year, Georgia Hood, belted two home runs in the game and had 5 RBI. The Pats offense threatened in almost every inning and had 8 hits, but just couldn't get a big inning going. Their three runs all came in different innings and they were held to zero home runs. Third year player and two-time All American, Gianna Guerriero went 2 for 4 with 2 runs and a double. Megan Loftis had three hits and drive in two runs, going 3 for 4. Brooke Roberts, hit a triple and drove in a run in the 5th.

Pensacola starter Lydia Drake struck out 10 batters and only walked one in the win. Haley Guffey took the loss for the Patriots giving up 4 runs on 5 hits and stuck out 1. Ashley Martinec threw 3 and 1/3 innings in relief, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. Emma Wyman threw one inning and struck out one batter, allowing only one hit and no runs.

After such an incredible season it is tough to see it come to an end. We look forward to following the success of our players who move on to the next level and hope to see the returning freshman get better and get us back to the state and national tournament next season. Go Pats!
