CF Dominates Daytona in Final Games of the Regular Season

On the final day of the 2023 Softball season the Patriots were nearly perfect in beating Daytona State 8-0 and 12-0. The Patriots closed out the regular season with a 45-11 record winning the Mid-Florida Conference Championship for the fifth time in a row. 

In game one the Patriots scored in the first four innings and cruised to a five inning run rule win. They scored four runs in the first inning with RBI singles coming from Katie Hogue, Katie Sexton, Hannah Meyer, and Cameron Wolfenden. Leading hitters in the game were: Brooke Roberts (2-3, 2R), Sexton (2-3, 2R, 2RBI, 3B), and Meyer (2-2, R, 2 RBI, 3B).

Haley Guffey started in the circle and threw three innings striking out three and allowed only two hits. Emma Wyman took over in the fourth and finsihed the final two innings striking out one.

In game two the Patriots scored in all five innings, getting big innings of four in the second and three in the third on their way to a 12-0 victory. Brooke Roberts went a perfect 2-2 with two doubles, a walk, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Gianna Guerriero was 2-3 with 2 runs and an RBI, Katie Hogue went 2-2 with a run and 2 RBI and Trinity Armstrong went 2-3 with 3 runs and an RBI. 

Guffey threw three more innings in game two. She was perfect while striking out five and not allowing a runner. Ashley Martinec completed the final two innings and struck out two batters.

The Patriots will next play in the Region VIII State Tournament in Clermont, FL at the Legends Way Ballfields. They will match up vs the Southern Conference #2 (TBD), and play on Field 3 at 7 pm on Friday, May 5th.
