Back to Back Home Runs Lead Pats to 5-4 Win Over Raiders

The College of Central Florida (34-8) traveled to Sanford to play Seminole State (33-7) in Game 1 of the 3-game series. They used a 5-run 3rd inning to beat the Raiders in a one run game. Hailey Scott, Gianna Guerrieo, and Megan Loftis all singled to load the bases for Brooke Roberts who blasted a grand slam home run to center field, her 19th of the season. Katie Hogue continued to stay hot with the bat and followed up Roberts grand slam with a solo shot to put the Pats up 5-1.

That was all the Pats would need as starting pitcher Haley Guffey allowed only 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 earned, and struck out 6 in her 7 innings in the circle. Guffey did a great job shutting down one of th better hitting teams in the state and is now 20-2 on the season.

The Patriots will meet up again with the Raiders for a double header to finish the series at home on Saturday, 3/25 with game one starting at 1 pm.
