CF Beats TCC 2-0, Loses 3-2 to Chipola

In the second day of the Courtney Miller Invitational the Patriots played in two close games against strong teams from the Panhandle Conference. 

CF beat Tallahassee in game one by the score of 2-0. Haley Guffey was once again dominant in the circle, striking out ten and only allowing two hit in the shutout. She earned her eleventh win to improve to 11-1 and has a 0.41 ERA on the season with 90 strikeouts. 

The Patriots scored their two runs in seventh inning after Hannah Meyer lef off with a triple and then Emily Konz singled to score Avery Lawson who came in to pinch run for Meyer. Katie Hogue later singled to left to score Konz and put the Pats up by two. Konz had two hits in the game going 2 for 3 with a run and a RBI.

In game two the Patriots suffered another tough loss to Chipola who had beat them earlier in the year in extra innings. The game was tied in the seventh when Charity Bibbs of Chipola singled in the run off Ashley Martinec to walk off the Patriots. Emma Wyman started and threw four innings, giving up only two runs on four hits, striking out five and walking five. Gianna Guerriero led the Pats in hitting going 2 for 4 with a run, a SB and a RBI. Madi Wicihowski scored the other run for the Patriots. 

The Patriots play next at home for the first time this season when they take on the State College of Florida Manatees on Tuesday at 1 and 3 pm.
