Softball Opens Courtney Miller Invitational with Two Wins

Pats only needed 5 innings to run rule Indian River State College in game one of the Courtney Miller Invitational. Hailey Scott swung a hot bat in the game going a perfect 3 for 3 with three singles driving in 4 runs. Ashley Martinec earned the win in the circle for CF. She surrendered two runs on five hits and struck out three in her five innings of work. Along with Scott, Cameron Wolfenden (2-3, 2 2B, 4 RBI) and Gianna Guerriero (2-4 R, RBI) also had multiple hit in the game. 

In game two vs St Pete College the Patriot pitcher Haley Guffey did not allow a run in the 10-1 victory. She only allowed four hits and struck out seven to improve to 9-0. The Patriots offense racked up 13 hit, five going for extra bases. Brooke Roberts (1-3, R, 2 RBI, HR) and Cameron Wolfenden (3-3, 3 R, 3 RBI, HR, 2B) both homered. Guerriero doubled and tripled in the contest. 

The Patriots will continue playing in the Courtney Miller Invitational on Sunday in Longwood, FL with match ups vs Tallahassee CC at 10:30 am and Chipola College at 12:30 pm.
