The College of Central Florida Softball team travelled to Melbourne, FL and took two from Eastern Florida State on Wednesday to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Game 1 Win 6-0
Emma Wyman pitched a complete game shutout for the Lady Pats going the full 7 innings allowing only 5 hits, striking out 5 and earned the win. Cameron Wolfenden (1-3, RBI) got things going in the 2nd inning with and RBI double to score Hannah Meyer (2-2, 1R, 1 RBI, BB, SB) who also doubled. The Patriots offense had 7 extra base hits with doubles by Wolfenden, Katie Sexton, Brooke Roberts and Meyer and triples by Hailey Scott, Trinity Armstrong, and Roberts.
Game 2 Win 7-1
The Patriots used solid pitching and timely hitting in game 2 to get another victory over the Titans. Emily Konz went two for four in the game and drive in two runs. Brooke Roberts also drove in two runs and stole a base. CF was speedy on the basepaths, getting 5 stolen bases from five different players. Guffey earned the win throwing 5 innings, striking out 8 and allowed only 2 hits. Ashley Martinec closed out the last two innings with 2Ks and 1 run on 3 hits.
The Patriots will be back in action on Friday in the Florida Southwestern Invitational in Naples, FL with games against highly ranked teams Chipola and Florida Southwestern.
