CF Sweeps Doubleheader Over State College of Florida

The College of Central Florida Patriots made the most of their road trip to Bradenton by beating State College of Florida 13-4 in Game 1 and 3-1 in Game 2. The Patriots used a 5 run first and a 6 run second to take a commanding lead early. Hailey Scott drove in two on a single to get the Patriots on the board in the first. In the second Brooke Roberts hit a 2 RBI single scoring Trinity Armstrong and Megan Loftis who both singled earlier in the inning. Hannah Meyer added to the Pats lead with bases clearing triple to left field to make it 10-0. She later scored on a Anna Toon ground ball to short.

Emma Wyman pitched three innings in Game 1 for the win in the circle. She only allowed four hots and one run while striking out four. Leading hitters in the game were Hailey Scott (2-2, 3R, 2RBI, SB), Emily Konz (2-2, 2R, BB, SB), Brooke Roberts (2-3, 2R, 2RBI, SB), and Hannah Meyer (2-3, 3B, 1R, 4RBI).

Game two was much closer than the first as the Manatees pitcher kept the powerfull Patriot offense in check. Hannah Guffey threw a gem in the circle for the College of Central Florida. She went a complete game seven innings, striking out nine and only surrendering three hits and an unearned run.

The Patriots were the first to score with Konz scoring on a error by the Manatees shortstop Rosenbaum from a Scott groundball. Loftis added another run in the 5th for the Lady Pats with a ground ball to third to score Cameron Wolfenden. Manatee answered back with a run in the bottom of the inning, however that was all they could muster and the Pats added one more run in the seventh to extend their lead to 3-1. 

The Patriots improve to 11-3 with their wins and will next play on the road again at St Johns River State College on Monday at 2 and 4 pm.
