GUERRIERO HOMERS TWICE AS PATS TAKE TWO FROM SCF

The Region 8 sixth ranked College of Central Florida softball team improves to 24-8 with two victories over the tenth ranked State College of Florida on Wednesday. 

Game one was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth when the Pats scored four runs with two outs. Katie Pierce, Hannah Meyer, and Gabbie Haas all drove in runs in the inning. The Pats scored 4 more again in the sixth to run rule the Manatees with a 3-run homerun by Pierce, her first home run of the season. Gianna Guerriero also hot a home run in the third inning, her fourth of the year. Savannah Barnett earned the victory for College of Central Florida. She surrendered only one run on three hits over six innings, striking out ten and improving her record to 10-3 for the season. 

In game two the Manatees took an early lead scoring three runs in the first off of Patriots starter Emily Proctor. Proctor settled down after the first and shut the Manatees out for the rest of the game going seven innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out four to improve to 5-1 on the year. The Pats tied up the game in the third at 3-3 and added one run in the fifth and sixth to secure the 5-3 win. CF racked up nine hits in the game. Gabbie Haas, Guerriero, Katie Sexton, and Emily Konz each collected multiple hits. Guerriero hit her second homer of the day with a solo shot in the first inning. 

The College of Central Florida has two more home matchups before conference play starts on Thursday 3/17 at Santa Fe. They will host Hillsborough on Monday 3/14 starting at 1 PM and nationally ranked Florida Southwestern on Tuesday 3/15 starting at 2 PM.
