Softball goes 2-0 on Day 1 at Chipola Classic
MARIANNA- The College of Central Florida softball team had no trouble against a pair of Panhandle Conference opponents on Saturday.

The Patriots pounded Pensacola State 10-2 and then hammered Gulf Coast State 13-0 to cap off the day.

CF (12-0), the No. 1 ranked team in the state, scored seven times in the bottom of the fifth inning to wipe out a 1-0 deficit against PSC.

Mariah Wise (1-for-3, two runs scored), Kelsee Cullop (1-for-3, two runs scored, two RBI, double), Brooke Barlow (2-for-3, two runs scored, four RBI, home run), Taylor Cruce (2-for-3) and Edrienne Williams (1-for-3, run scored, RBI, double) led the way for the Patriots at the plate.

Lindsey White went all six innings and scattered nine hits to pick up the victory for CF.

From there, the Patriots put away Gulf Coast with eight runs in the sixth.

Kalen McGill, the reigning NJCAA/FCSAA Pitcher of the Week, went all six innings and allowed just two hits and one walk to go along with eight strikeouts.

Caeley Nix (2-for-4, three runs scored, double), Rebecca Enter (1-for-3, two runs scored, double, two RBI), Melinda Rule (1-for-2, run scored, two RBI), Deeandreaya Davis (1-for-2, two RBI) and Tiona Hill (2-for-3, run scored) led the Patriots at the plate against Gulf Coast.

CF faces the remainder of the Panhandle Conference on Sunday, as it meets Northwest Florida State, Tallahassee and Chipola.

Chipola, the defending NJCAA National Champion, lost 8-0 during the regular season to the Patriots a year ago, but knocked off CF at the state tournament.
