Softball crushes HCC, hits 6 HRs

TAMPA- The College of Central Florida softball team had no trouble with Hillsborough Community College.

The No. 1 ranked team in the state improved to 10-0 on the year with routs of 11-1 (5IN) and 17-3 over the Hawks.

In the opener, Kelsee Cullop (1-for-3, two runs scored, three RBI, home run), Brooke Barlow (3-for-3, three runs scored, two RBI, double), Rebecca Enter (3-for-4, two runs scored, home run, two RBI), Kaylee Smith (2-for-2) and Mariah Wise (1-for-3, two runs scored) led CF at the plate.

The FCSAA Pitcher of the Week Kalen McGill led the Patriots in the circle, not allowing a hit and striking out two in three scoreless innings of work.

The Patriots then smashed four home runs in the nightcap.

Barlow (2-for-5, five RBI, run scored, home run, triple), Kylie Holton (1-for-3, two runs scored, two RBI, home run), Deeandreaya Davis (2-for-2, five RBI, home run), Cullop (2-for-3, run scored, RBI), Edrienne Williams (2-for-3, two runs scored, two RBI, home run), Caeley Nix (3-for-5, two runs scored, RBI) and Melinda Rule (2-for-3, three runs scored) led CF, who scored seven runs in the last inning.

In the circle, Lindsey White pitched five complete innings allowing just three runs on six hits and struck out five. White is now 2-0 on the season. 

CF heads to Marianna, Fla. this weekend for the Chipola College Classic. The Patriots will face off against Pensacola (3 p.m.) and Gulf Coast State (5 p.m.) on Saturday and close out the weekend with Northwest Florida (9 a.m.), Tallahassee (11 a.m.) and Chipola (2 p.m.) on Sunday.
