Softball sweeps Tallahassee

OCALA--The College of Central Florida softball team hammered Tallahassee Community College by scores of 6-0 and 12-1 on Saturday afternoon to improve its record to 8-0.

Kalen McGill threw a four-hit shutout in the opener and struck out five.

At the plate, Caeley Nix (2-for-4, two runs scored, triple), Shelbee Blackburn (home run), Rebecca Enter (2-for-4, two runs scored, two RBI, double) and Kaylee Smith (2-for-3) led the way for CF.

In the second game, the Patriots invoked the mercy-rule with an eight-run effort in the fifth inning.

Lindsey White went four innings and picked up the win in the circle.

CF was led on offense by Edrienne Williams (1-for-4, home run), Taylor Cruce (3-for-3), Brooke Barlow (1-for-4, three runs scored), Mariah Wise (2-for-4, two runs scored), Destinee Lizzmore (1-for-4, run scored, double, two RBI) and Kelsee Cullop (2-for-4, two runs scored, three RBI, home run, double),

The Patriots visit Hillsborough on Tuesday for a doubleheader at 4 and 6 p.m.
