The College of Central Florida Patriots used two big innings to take game one of the Ocala Regional over Florida Southwest. The Patriots scored six runs in the third and five runs in the eighth to win 11-3 on a run-rule walk-off single by Michael Guilliams.

Florida Southwest got off to an early lead with a lead off single followed by a triple by Bucs centerfielder AJ Shaver. Former Patriot, Anthony Westbrooke, hot a deep sac fly to center to put the Bucs up 2-0 in the first. Patriot starter Brian Holiday settled in after the first inning and earned his 8th win of the year (8-0). He went five and two-thirds, allowing three runs on five walks and 8 hits while striking out four.

The Pats six-run third inning began with a Bradke Lohry walk, his first game back from a hamstring injury. The first five batters reached base with hits by: John Marant, Carson Bayne, Juan Correa, and Kareh Valentin. Valentin's double to center gave the Pats a 3-2 lead. Thad Ector hit a ground ball to first with runners at second and third and an errant throw by the first baseman allowed both runners, Correa and Valentin, to score.

Isaac Sewell entered the game in the sixth with two outs and and the bases loaded with the Bucs best hitter, AJ Shaver, coming to the plate. Sewell got Shaver to chase some nasty breaking balls to get a strike out and escape the jam. Sewel finished the game on the mound to earn his second save of the year.

The Patriots five runs in the eighth all came with two outs and much like in the third inning, seven batters reached base in a row. Guilliams finished it off with a single to left field to score Kainen Jorge from second for the 8-run run-rule victory.

Central Florida and Florida SouthWestern will meet up again for game two at 1 pm on Saturday, May 6th. The Pats need one more win to punch their ticket to Lakeland for the Championship round of the FCSAA Tournament.
