CF Baseball Clinches Mid-Florida Conference Championship for the Second Straight Year

The College of Central Florida Patriots won their second straight Mid-Florida Conference Championship after defeating the Seminole State College Raiders 16-8 on Friday. The win improves the Pats record to 45-4 on the season and ensures CF will host a state regional series in Ocala the weekend of May 5-7.

The Patriots opened the scoring in the second inning when they pushed across three runs on a Mike Guilliams groundout and a two-run single by Cole Bullen.
Juan Correa led off the third inning with his 18th home run followed two outs later by Thad Ector's 9th home run. The Pats weren't done yet as they loaded the bases for Edwin Toribio and he launched his 20th home run and a new school record to deep right center field. This made it a 9-1 lead for CF.

Correa would then connect for his second home run of the game and his 19th of the season leading off the fourth inning. A Kainen Jorge RBI double and RBI singles from Guilliams and Bullen kept the onslaught going and after the smoke cleared in the top of the fourth the Pats had a ten run lead at 14-4. Correa had one more opportunity to knock in some runs and he didn't disappoint as his two out two run single gave the Pats a 16-8 lead.

Cam Schuelke earned the win to improve to 7-1 on the season by throwing three no hit innings.

The Patriots have three regular season games remaining. At home against Seminole State on Saturday, 1:00 PM (Sophomore Recognition Day), at home against Santa Fe College on Monday, 3:00 PM, and on the road Wednesday, 3:00 PM at Santa Fe College.
