The Patriots baseball team made short work of the Lake Sumter State College Lake Hawks by a score of 16-3 on Wednesday afternoon in Ocala. The game was shortened to seven innings due to the ten-run mercy rule. The win improved the record of the #1 NJCAA team in the country to 21-1 and Lake Sumter fell to 7-12.

Andrew Herrmann (2-0) earned the win on the mound for the Pats by tossing five innings, allowing three hits, two runs, and striking out six batters. Keller Eberly and Austin Eppley combined to strike out four batters over the last two innings. Offensively the Pats were very efficient as they scored sixteen runs on only nine hits.

Five of those nine hits were for extra bases as Edwin Toribio had a double, a home run, his sixth of the season, and five RBI. Bradke Lohry hit his eighth home run of the season, which was a grand slam, in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lohry finished with four RBI and four runs scored. John Marant went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI while Sam McAleer and Juan Correa had run scoring singles.

The Patriots have three home games remaining before beginning Mid-Florida Conference play on Wednesday, March 8th at Daytona State College.
