CF Scores 17 to Beat Daytona in Final Game of Series

The Patriots completed the sweep of Daytona State College in the opening series of the Mid-Florida Conference when they defeated the Falcons 17-9 on Saturday afternoon. The win pushed the Pats winning streak to fifteen games in a row. The Pats scored the 17 runs on 17 hits including five doubles and two home runs.

CF scored four runs in each of the first two innings. In the first inning Edwin Toribio singled home John Marant for the first run followed a few batters later by Juan Correa's three-run home run. His sixth HR of the season. In the second inning a Carson Bayne double scored a run and another scored on a wild pitch. Kareh Valentin and Austin Eppley then had RBI singles to push the Pats lead to 8-0.

Toribio hit his eighth home run of the season in the fifth inning to give CF a 10-3 lead. The Falcons fought back to within three runs at 10-7, only to see the Patriots score five times in the 7th inning. Bayne and Cole Bullen singled in runs, Valentin doubled home two and another scored on a wild pitch. Thad Ector added a two run double in the ninth inning to conclude the Patriots scoring.

Emmanuel Dooley picked up the win in relief of JD Smith for his first collegiate win.

Patriots improve to 27-1, 3-0 while the Falcons fall to 13-10, 0-3. CF hits the road on Monday to play a non-conference game in Jacksonville against FSCJ at 3 pm.
