CF Baseball's Undefeated Streak Ends at 12 with 9-7 Loss at St Pete

The College of Central Florida's (12-1) twelve game winning streak to start the season is over after their 9-7 loss to St. Petersburg College (2-9) on Friday afternoon in Clearwater. The Pats jumped out to a 2-0 lead on John Marant's first home run of the season and an RBI double by Austin Eppley. The lead quickly evaporated in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Titans scored five runs with four runs coming off of a grand slam home run by Andrey Martinez. Some sloppy defense in the sixth inning and a two run double by Torey Jones Jr. pushed the lead to 7-2.

CF would eventually rally to tie the game in the top of the seventh when Bradke Lohry tripled home a run, Edwin Toribio singled home Lohry, Thad Ector doubled home Toribio and Cole Bullen, and Kareh Valentin hit a sac fly to left field. The Titans took advantage of three walks by Patriots pitchers in the bottom of the eighth inning and a double by Nick Yedman to score two runs and make the final score 9-7.

John Marant 2-4, HR
