Patriots Place 3rd In First Cross Country Meet of the Year

Cross Country season is underway! On Sunday, September 4th the PATS ran the first race of the inaugural season with 4 women placing in the top 25 overall and the team placing third! Ten ladies represented CF all racing the hilly, nationally-acclaimed course at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida against 6 other schools. Freshman Brianna Carey led the team with an 11th place finish at the NJCAA Pre-National Open. Setting the current school record to 23:43.30, Carey covered the 5k course in 7:38 average mile pace. Teammates Quiriat Dubon (25:08.10) and Heidi Kearney (25:08.70) stuck together crossing in 19th and 20th place finishes. Madison Strickland (22nd) and Kalyn Sitterson rounded out the top 5 in the team score. All ten ladies made their collegiate debut. Trinity Bonner, Christal Best, Jalin Crowell, Michelle Kalms, and Destini Patterson all ran the course which is also the site of this year's national championship.

This week the PATS will head to Melbourne to compete in the Eastern Florida State College Fall Classic 5k on Saturday morning, September 10th at 8 A.M.
