Patriots Defeat Pensacola State to Advance to Championship Game

The #4 ranked Central Florida Patriots took down the #2 ranked Pensacola State Pirates in the winner's bracket match up with a score of 6-1. CF got a dominant performance from starting pitcher Savannah Barnett. She thew a complete game seven innings, struck out seven and gave up only one run on three hits and one walk. She improved to 20-6 on the season.

The Patriots took a two nothing lead in the second with three doubles in the inning one each by Brooke Roberts, Hannah Meyer and Abbey O'Connor. Later in the top of the seventh they added four more runs to increase their lead 6-1. The first five batters of the inning all reached base. Meyer led off with a single, then O'Connor reached on an error by the pitcher before L Garnett-Brown singled to load the bases for Gianna Guerriero, who also singled to drive in two runs. Roberts later hit a sac fly to center to score another and Katie Hogue closed out the scoring with an RBI double.

With the win the Patriots now advance to the FCSAA State/NJCAA South Atlantic District A Championship Game and will face conference foe Seminole State at 4 PM tomorrow at the Boombah Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood, FL.
