Patriots Lose Tough One in Extra Innings to Paris JC

The Dragons got off to an early lead over the Patriots, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jessika Roberts reached on a walk and Kelsey Keirierber was hit by Patriots starter Savannah Barnett before Victoria Gordillo singled to score both runners. Paris added to their lead in the second inning with a solo home run by Skylar Vest. 

The Patriots got on the board scoring one run with back to back doubles by Emily Konz and Kamaya Cohen. In the top of the fourth Madisyn Riggins led off the inning with a walk and then Hannah Meyer followed up with a two-run home run to right field to tie the game at 3-3. The Patriots took the lead in the fifth when Katie Hogue took a 2-2 pitch deep to centerfield for a home run. 

With the game tied 4-4 in the eighth Paris JC lead off hitter Jessika Roberts walked and then Keierieber doubled to center scoring Roberts from first to win the game and advance in the winner's bracket. Barnett finished the game with eight strike outs, allowing five runs on six hits. 

The Patriots (46-17) will now play Seminole State (45-3) out of Oklahoma tonight at 11 PM EST in an elimination game in hopes to keep their season alive.
