Lady Patriots Off to a 5-1 Start After Opening Weekend

On Sunday the College of Central Florida Softball team won two of three to start the season 5-1. The Patriots lost game one to Northwest FL State (1-6) beofore wining games 2 and 3 vs South GA State (10-0) and Miami Dade (11-3).

 

Game 1 - 1-6 Loss vs Northwest FL State

Northwest FL scored three runs in the 2nd inning to take the lead and added another three runs in the 6th to increase their lead while CF scored thier lone run in the 4th when Hannah Meyer singled on a ground ball and Madyson Rothe then scored on an error by the Raider shortstop. Savannah Barnett took the loss surrendering six runs over five and two-third innings pitched while striking out five batters and walking three.

Game 2 - 10-1 Win vs South GA State

In game two Katie Hogue led the offense going 3 for 3 and driving in four runs in the game with a single, double and home run. Madysin Riggins was the winning pitcher for College of Central Florida. The righthander went four innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out five. Katey Pierce threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. The Patriots finished with ten hits in the game. Brooke Roberts hit two doubles and scored twice and Gianna Guerriero also hit a double and scored twice.

Game 3 - 11-3 Win vs Miami Dade

The Patriots offense was too much for Miami Dade in game three. They collected 13 hits including 5 home runs. Madisyn Riggins went deep in the second inning, Brooke Roberts and Adams in the third, Gianna Guerriero and Katie Hogue homered in the fifth. Guerriero, Roberts, Hogue, and Riggins each racked up multiple hits for College of Central Florida with Guerriero going a perfect 3 for 3. 

 

The Patriots next games will be on Friday, February 4th in the Florida Southwest Invitational in Ft. Myers, FL
